Trapiantare il tempo. Per un nuovo statuto della self-image

Abstract

This contribution examines the temporal paradox inherent in the self-image, from early modern reflections such as Moholy-Nagy’s speculative self-portrait and Wilde’s Dorian Gray to contemporary postphotographic practices. Focusing on Noah Kalina’s long-term self-portraiture and its computational reconfigurations, the study analyzes how time-lapse and AI-based processes disrupt photographic instantaneity, introducing retroactive, predictive, and hyperbolic temporalities. Postphotographic self-images are thus reframed as generative, reflexive dispositifs that decenter identity from linear biological time.
