Usi visuali del Sé: avatar e sticker personali

Abstract

The essay explores how the digital visual turn reshapes selfhood: people do not just share images of themselves, they learn to exist and act as images. From memoji-style personal avatars to WhatsApp ‘personal stickers’, postphotographic practices cut, animate and mobilize the face into modular signs. These fragments function as a visual paralanguage – beyond mere self-display – building identity, social bonds and agency through touch-based appropriation and everyday circulation in chats.
