“Il cielo non è facile”: gli spazi del colore nello stile documentario di Guido Guidi
Abstract
This article proposes an analysis of color as a fundamental element of language in the work of Italian photographer Guido Guidi (1941), from his ‘experimental’ beginnings in the second half of the 1960s to his definitive adoption of a “documentary style” two decades later. Lacking sources, debates or theories on the progressive shift from black-and- white to chromatic practices in Italian photographic culture of this period, the study proposes a close reading of key works and photographic sequences by the author, relating them to archival materials, aspects of the international photographic discourse and statements on the theme of color elaborated retrospectively by Guidi in recent publications.
